Dr. Huma Mahmood is a double Board-Certified Child, Adolescent, and Adult psychiatrist
dedicated to providing thoughtful, compassionate, and evidence-based mental health care acrossthe lifespan. Dr. Mahmood earned her undergraduate degree from Tufts University where she majored in Pre-Medicine and Child Development. She went on to earn her medical degree from Rowan University. She completed a post-doctoral training in a rigorous Psychiatry residency program at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Dr. Mahmood went on to attend the Child & Adolescent fellowship program at Thomas Jefferson University where she was
nominated and served as the Chief Resident during her second year. She works with children,
teens, adults, and families to better understand emotional, behavioral, developmental, and
psychiatric concerns, while creating individualized treatment plans that support long-term wellness and stability.
Dr. Mahmood brings a warm, collaborative approach to care, combining clinical expertise with a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by children, adolescents, parents, and adults. Her areas of focus include mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, behavioral concerns, life transitions, family stressors, and complex psychiatric conditions. She believes in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms, and emphasizes trust, education, and partnership throughout the treatment
process.
Dr. Mahmood comes from a family of physicians and understands the importance of practicing
effective patient care. Dr. Mahmood is well regarded by her colleagues as evident by her
receiving the Doctors’ Choice Award for Top Psychiatrist in the nation in 2015, Doctors’ Choice
Award for Top Adolescent Psychiatrist in Philadelphia in 2015 and Patients’ Choice Awards in 2014 & 2015. In 2016 Dr. Mahmood was voted in the TOP 100 Doctors in the nation. She is often described as being ‘compassionate’ ‘professional’ and ‘dedicated’ to her patients.
As both a child and adolescent psychiatrist and an adult psychiatrist, Dr. Mahmood is uniquely
