    Adolescent & Child Therapy

Kids rarely say ‘I’m struggling.’ They show it — in behavior, sleep, school, and silence. We help young people find words, skills, and confidence.

    Children playing outdoors

Children and adolescents face real mental health challenges — anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral disorders, trauma — but they show them differently than adults do, and they need care designed for their age and developmental stage. That’s precisely what our child and adolescent specialists provide, for patients as young as two.

    Why early intervention matters

The single most consistent finding in child mental health research is that early help changes trajectories. Addressing struggles now can prevent more serious issues later in life — and dramatically improves a young person’s day-to-day quality of life, at school, at home, and with friends. Sometimes that work extends beyond our office: with a family’s permission, we coordinate with schools and pediatricians when it helps.

How we work with young people

    • Play therapy. For younger children, play is language. In play therapy, kids express feelings they don’t yet have words for, in an environment that never feels clinical — building coping skills, social confidence, and self-esteem along the way.
    • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). For older children and teens, CBT teaches a skill they’ll use for life: noticing negative thought patterns and replacing them with more accurate, constructive ones. It is particularly effective for anxiety and depression.
    • Family involvement. A child’s progress is fastest when the household understands what’s happening and how to help. We bring families into the work — especially for behavioral challenges and trauma recovery.
